«Now That I Own the BBC» er ein song av den amerikanske rockeduoen Sparks, som kom ut i Europa i 1995 og i Storbritannia i 1996 som den tredje og siste singelen frå det sekstande studioalbumet deira Gratuitous Sax & Senseless Violins (1994). Songen var skriven og produsert av Ron Mael og Russell Mael, med ekstra produksjon av Linus Burdick.

Bakgrunn endre

Sparks hadde opphavleg tenkte å bruke ulike kringkastingsselskap i tittelen og teksten, og gje dei ut som singlar i sine respektive land. I eit intervju i 1996 med VH1 sa Ron Mael, «Me tenkte faktisk på eit tidspunkt på å lage songen forskjellig i kvart enkelt land. Det ville vore NBC for Amerika og BBC for Storbritannia, men på eit visst punkt vart det berre for mykje og RTL rimer ikkje på noko som helst, så me heldt oss til BBC.»[1]

Musikkvideo endre

Musikkvideoen syner Sparks ombord på eit animert 'BBC-skip'. Han vart regissert av Olivier Kuntzel og Florence Deygas, som òg var ansvarleg for animasjonen i videoen..[2]

Mottaking endre

Då singelen kom ut i Storbritannia skildra Newark Advertiser songen som «techno-dance weirdness» og la til «Vokalversjonen og to tankevekkande instrumentelle, tapte høve so ved innsetting av vokale klipp.»[3]
