Paul McCartney's Liverpool Oratorio er eit konsertalbum av Paul McCartney som kom i 1991 og var det første seriøse forsøket hans på klassisk musikk. Musikken vart komponert i samarbeid med Carl Davis i samband med 150-årsjubileet til Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Prosjektet fekk mykje mediamerksemd då det vart kjend i juni 1991.
Oratoriet består av åtte satsar og soga er laust basert på livet til McCartney. Hovudpersonen heiter Shanty og er frå Liverpool.
Innspeling endre
Innspelinga vart gjort under generalprøven til oratoriet og premieren i Liverpool Cathedral med McCartney i publikum og dei kjende songarane Kiri Te Kanawa, Jerry Hadley, Sally Burgess og Willard White. Lydteknikar på innspelinga var John Timperley.[1]

Albumet selde godt og oratoriet låg på toppen av dei klassiske musikklistene verda over, og nådde til og med 177. plassen på den vanlege albumlista i USA. Kritikarane var mindre imponerte, og dei fleste var samde om at sjølv om musikken var attraktiv, var det for enkelt, langt og tynt.[6][7]
