«This Is Not America» er ein song av den engelske songaren David Bowie og det amerikanske jazzfusion-bandet Pat Metheny Group, teken frå lydsporet til filmen The Falcon and the Snowman i 1985.[1] Han kom ut på singel i februar 1985 og nådde 14. plassen i Storbritannia og 32. plassen i USA. Den instrumentale songen som «This Is Not America» er basert på vart skriven av Pat Metheny og Lyle Mays og er i seg sjølv ein song kalla «Chris», som kom ut på filmmusikkalbumet.

Songen kom sidan ut på The Singles Collection (1993). Seinare vart han gjeven ut på Best of Bowie (2002), og finst på alle utgåver utanom den australske og japanske utgåva. Metheny skreiv seinare at teksten til Bowie var «djup og meiningsfull - og heilt perfekt for filmen.»[2]

  • Pat Metheny Group spelte inn songen for DVD-en We Live Here i 1995, der bandmedlemmar erstatta Bowie på vokal.
  • Bowie spelte inn ei utgåve av songen på BBC Radio Theatre i London den 27. juni 2000, og han kom ut på bonusplata som følgde dei første utgåvene av Bowie at the Beeb.
  • Ei anna utgåve med Anna Maria Jopek og Pat Metheny vart spelt inn i Warszawa i 2002 og finst på albumet Anna Maria Jopek and Pat Metheny Live in Warsaw 2002.
