«For the Good Times» er ein song skriven av Kris Kristofferson for debutalbumet hans Kristofferson. Han skreiv første verset og refrenget i 1968 medan han køyrde frå Nashville til Mexicogolfen. Ei tidleg innspeling av songen vart gjort av Bill Nash på Smash Records.[1][2]
I 1970 spelte Ray Price ein versjon av songen som gjekk til topps på country-lista i USA[3] og vart kåra til årets song av Academy of Country Music. «For the Good Times» var den femte nummer-ein-singelen til Price og låg 19 veker inne på lista.[4] «For the Good Times» kryssa over til poplista og nådde 11. plassen der, og vart den einaste hitten til Ray Price som nådde topp 40 på Billboard Hot 100.[5] Opphavleg gav selskapet til Price, Columbia Records, ut songen som B-side til singelen, men byta sider etter at Wayne Newton spelte inn sin eigen versjon av songen. Den andre sida, «Grazin' in Greener Pastures,» gjorde det ikkje like bra på countrylista.[2]
I 1973 nådde ein versjon av Perry Como sjuandeplassen på UK Singles Chart og låg 27 veker inne på lista.[6]
