Note: the native range of Goodyera repens (L.) R.Br. extends over most of the boreal zone in Eurasia and North America. In Italy it is widespread in the Alps, while in the Apennines it was accidentally introduced with the conifers reforestations, carried out in the 19th and 20th century. In Liguria this species is very abundant in the Imperiese, where it is certainly native and where there are numerous stations (for a total of several hundred thousand specimens). While it is rather rare and localized in the eastern sector of the Ligurian Apennines, where it is present in the Val d'Aveto and in the Val di Vara and where it was almost certainly introduced thanks to the reforestations of the 50s and 60s of the 20th century. Goodyera repens (L.) R.Br. grows in the mountain coniferous forests and sporadically reaches the subalpine belt.
