Little Richard Is Back (And There's a Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On!) var det sjuande studioalbumet til Little Richard og det førte albumet hans med rock and roll på fem år. Han trekte seg attende frå rock and roll og heldt på med gospel i tre år, før han omsider vart lokka attende til rocken etter ein suksessrik turné i Storbritannia.

Historie

Etter at Richard hadde avslutta samarbeidet med Specialty Records i 1957 for å spele inn gospelmusikk, spelte han inn tjue songar for Goldner Records i september 1959. Sjølv om han vart lokka attende til å spele inn rock and roll med det gamle bandet sitt The Upsetters for Little Star Records i 1962, gjekk han kort tid seinare attende til gospel og spelte inn songar for Atlantic Records i 1963. Ein suksessrik britisk turné gjorde at Richard omsider vende attende til rock and roll-røtene sine, og songar for singlar vart spelte inn i 1964 med Specialty, men det var ikkje nok songar til å gje ut eit heilt album.

Richard gjekk i studio den 30. juni 1964 og var i studio seks gonger til i mai-juli 1965, og spelte inn i alt 46 spor. Over halvparten av desse vart delt mellom dette albumet og oppfølgjaren, Little Richard's Greatest Hits, før selskapet gjekk konkurs i januar 1966 og ikkje kunne gje ut fleire album.
