Lynsjing (frå engelsk lynching) er ei nemning på ulovleg selvtekt, som regel ei offentleg avretting utført av ein mobb eller folkemasse, særleg i USA. Opphavet til omgrepet er usikkert, men har truleg bakgrunn i namnet til dommaren Charles Lynch som var kjent for å henga dei som stod på den andre sida under den amerikanske sjølvstendekrigen på 1700-talet.
