J.J. Cale og Eric Clapton.

I 2004 arrangerte Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival, ein tre dagar lang festival i Dallas i Texas. Av artistane som spelte der var J. J. Cale, som gav Clapton høvet til å spørje Cale om å produsere eit album for han. Dei to starta å arbeide i lag og valde så å spele inn eit album. Fleire høgprofilerte musikarar sa ja til å bli med, mellom andre Billy Preston, Derek Trucks, Taj Mahal, Pino Palladino, John Mayer, Steve Jordan og Doyle Bramhall II. I eit kupp, anten det var tilsikta eller ikkje, spelte heile John Mayer Trio på albumet.

Escondido er ein by nær heimstaden til Cale i Valley Center i California.

Album fekk Grammyprisen for beste kontemporære album i 2008. Albumet nådde tredjeplassen på VG-lista i Noreg.
