Coel Hen
Coel (gammalwalisisk Coil), også kalla Coel Hen (Coel den gamle) og King Cole, er ein viktig figur i walisisk litteratur og ein sogefigur frå britisk mellomalder. Tidleg walisisk tradisjon hadde ein Coel Hen, ein leiar kring 300-talet i romersk eller like etter romersk tid i Storbritannia som var opphav til fleire kongeslekter i Yr Hen Ogledd ('det gamle nord'), den brittonsk-talande delen av det som no er Nord-England og Sør-Skottland.

Seinare mellomaldersoger fortel om ein Coel som ein meiner er avleidd frå Coel Hen. Han skal ha vore far til heilage Helena, og gjennom henne bestefaren til den romerske keisaren Konstantin den store.
Andre figurar med liknande namn kan forvekslast eller blandast med den walisiske Coel. Nokre meiner sogekongen «King Coel» er det historiske grunnlaget for den utbreidde barneregla «Old King Cole», men dette skal vera usannsynleg.[1]
