Back to the Drive er det tolvte studioalbumet til Suzi Quatro. Det kom ut i mars 2006[1] og var eit comeback, og det første sidan Oh Suzi Q. i 1990 (om ein ser bort frå nyinnspelingane på What Goes Around i 1994 og sjølvhjelpsalbumet Unreleased Emotion i 1998). Det var produsert av Sweet gitaristen Andy Scott og Steve Grant med hjelp frå den gamle produsenten til Quatro, Mike Chapman.[1] Ho hadde òg med seg Shirlie Roden på korvokal, eks-ektemannen Len Tuckey på gitar og dottera Laura Quatro (då Laura Tuckey), i duett med ho på singelen «I'll Walk Through the Fire With You».
Albumet kom ut på EMI Records ute i verda, på Liberty Records i Storbritannia og på Caroline Records i Nord-Amerika
Musikk endre
Albumet består av ulike musikkstilar. Tittelsporet er eit rockespor som samplar introen frå «Devil Gate Drive» og gitarlinja frå den første store hitten hennar, «Can The Can». «15 Minutes of Fame» er ein folkrocksong. «Duality» vart spelt inn i indisk raga-stil og vart skriven i lag med Vicki Tischler Blue (tidlegare i The Runaways). «I Don't Do Gentle» er storbandrock frå 1950-åra. Som dei fleste albuma til Quatro, inneheld det ein coversong, ein versjon av Neil Young-songen «Rockin' in the Free World».
Det er to balladar på albumet, «Sometimes Love Is Letting Go» og «Free the Butterfly».
Plateomslag og tittel endre
Fotografiet på plateomslaget var teken av Steve Payne med eit bilete av Quatro som skrik medan ho speler bassgitar. Fotografia på innsida av omslaget vart tekne av Gered Mankowitz og Victory Tischler-Blue. Mankowitz hadde tidlegare fotografert Quatro for dei tidlegare albuma hennar på RAK Records.
Tittelen Back to the Drive syner til hitten hennar «Devil Gate Drive», som impliserer at ho vender attende til rockerøtene.
Mottaking endre
Sjølv om albumet fekk god kritikk av kritikarane og fansen, nådde det berre 78. plassen på albumlista i Sveits. Allmusic gav albumet fire av fem stjerner.[1]
