Beginnings er ei nyutgjeving frå 1973 av dei to første albuma til The Allman Brothers Band, The Allman Brothers Band og Idlewild South. Dei to albuma hadde selt ganske dårleg då dei først kom ut i høvesvis 1969 og 1970, men etter at bandet slo gjennom for fullt i 1971 vart denne samlinga gjeve ut for utnytte denne populariteten. Beginnings inneheld òg lange notat i plateomslaget av Jean-Charles Costa, om gav mange fans det førte samanhengande synet på bandhistoria. Plateomslaget syner ein av dei mange kjende konsertane deira på Fillmore East.
