«I Believe in a Thing Called Love» er ein song av det engelske rockebandet The Darkness, gjeven ut som den tredje singelen frå debutalbumet deira, Permission to Land. Då han kom ut på singel i september 2003 nådde han andreplassen på UK Singles Chart, bak The Black Eyed Peas-songen «Where Is the Love?».[1] Songen gjekk òg inn på singellister verda over og vart ein topp 10-hit i Irland, New Zealand og Sverige, i tillegg til den amerikanske Billboard Modern Rock Tracks-lista.

«I Believe in a Thing Called Love» kom opphavleg ut på ein EP i august 2002, men sidan det berre vart trykt eit lite opplag, gjekk han ikkje inn på noko salsliste då. EP-en inneheldt òg tidlege versjonar av «Love on the Rocks With No Ice» og «Love Is Only a Feeling».

I mars 2005 plasserte magasinet Q «I Believe in a Thing Called Love» på 47. plassen på lista over dei 101 beste gitarsongane. Han vart kåra til den 276. beste songen i 2000-åra av Pitchfork.[2] Han er òg plassert på 493. plassen på lista til magasinet Blender over dei 500 beste songane gjennom tidene og vart rangert på toppen av lista til Classic Rock Magazine over dei beste rockesongane i 2000-åra. Songen vart kåra til den 94. beste hardrocksongen gjennom tidene av VH1.[3] Eit konsertopptaket, spelt inn i Knebworth House i Knebworth i Hertfordshire i 2003, vart gjeven ut som B-sida til julesingelen deira, «Christmas Time (Don't Let the Bells End)». I ei lesarundersøking i Classic Rock Magazine i 2020 vart songen kåra til årets beste song dette hundreåret (så langt).[4]

Musikkvideoen var designa for å lansere bandet for den amerikanske marknaden.[5] Han var regissert av Alex Smith og syner bandet på eit romskip medan dei speler songen og sloss mot romvesen og monster.[6][7]

Songen var ein spelar song i musikkvideospela Karaoke Revolution Volume 2, Guitar Hero On Tour: Decades og Dancing Stage Fusion; som kjeldemusikk i ein episode av The Bill og i filmane Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason og Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. Songen var med i den originale versjonen av SingStar. Han er med i både Rocksmith og Rock Band 3 som nedlastbart innhald.
