Flora er eit oppslagsverk som systematisk framstiller ei gruppe plantar. Det omtalar kortfatta plantar som finst ein viss stad, gjerne med illustrasjonar som viser planten i ulike former. Tradisjonelt har ein flora dekt eit geografisk område, ofte eit land, men det kan òg dekke ein spesiell biotop, til dømes fjellet. Oppslagsverket kan finnast i bokform eller elektronisk. Omfanget av verket kan variera, frå å innehalda alle artane ein kjenner innan eit område og mange detaljar til ei meir kortfatta handbok.

Ein flora er oftast ordna etter ein viss systematikk slik at brukaren kan identifisere ei plante. Det mest vanlege er ordning etter planteslekter og plantefamiliar, men ein finn òg floraer som er ordna etter biotopar eller farge på kronblad. Ein flora inneheld ofte ein klassifikasjonsnøkkel til å indentifisere plantar. Ofte krev bruken av desse plantenøklane at ein undersøker planta nøye og ein må velje mellom to eller fleire alternativ som passar best for å gradvis identifisere planta.

Flora Sinensis ('Kinesisk flora') av den polske jesuitten Michał Boym skal ha vore den første boka som nytta namnet «flora» i tittelen til ei bok som skildrar plantane i eit område.[1] Trass tittelen inneheldt ho ikkje berre plantar, men òg nokre dyr i området. Frå Skandinavia er nokre eldre, kjende floraer Carl von Linné sine verk Flora Lapponica (1737) og Flora suecica (1745), 54-bandsverket Flora danica (1761–1883), J.E. Gunnerus sin Flora norvegica i 2 band (1766–72) og A.G. og M.N. Blytt sin Norges flora i 3 band (1861–76).

Eit kompendium over verdas floraer har blitt samla av David Frodin.[2]
