Jerry Scheff

Jerry Obern Scheff (fødd 31. januar 1941) er ein USA-amerikansk bassist, mest kjend for arbeidet sitt med Elvis Presley i 1970-åra som medlem av hans TCB Band og arbeidet hans på dei siste innspelingane til The Doors.

Liv og virke
endreScheff voks opp i San Francisco Bay-området. Etter ei tid i den amerikanske marinen kom han attende til California og enda opp i Los Angeles som studiomusikar. Etter å ha arbeidd ved Sands nattklubb i Los Angeles med 16 år gamle Billy Preston, Merry Clayton og Don «Sugarcane» Harris. Han spelte på den første hitplata si, The Association sin «Along Comes Mary» i 1966. Suksessen førte til at han fekk spele med andre artistar som Bobby Sherman, Johnny Mathis, Johnny Rivers, Neil Diamond, Nancy Sinatra, Pat Boone, Sammy Davis jr., Bobby Vinton, The Everly Brothers og Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. I 1971 spelte han på L.A. Woman, det siste studioalbumet til The Doors med Jim Morrison.[1]
I juli 1969 vart Scheff medlem av turnebandet til Elvis Presley, TCB Band. Med dette bandet spelte han konsertar med Presley frå august 1969 til juni 1973 og frå april 1975 til den siste konserten til Presley den 26. juni 1977 i Market Square Arena i Indianapolis. Han er med på Aloha from Hawaii, Back In Memphis» That's The Way It Is, Elvis As Recorded At Madison Square Garden, dokumentarfilmen Elvis On Tour frå 1972 og Moody Blue, i tillegg til fleire.
I seinare år arbeidde Scheff med Willy DeVille, Bob Dylan, John Denver, Elvis Costello, The Doors, Sam Phillips, [[Richard Thompson og mange andre. Scheff var òg bassist for Southern Pacific på debutalbumet deira. Han deltok på den TV-sendte konserten Roy Orbison and Friends, A Black and White Night.
Scheff har to søner: Jason og Darin Scheff. Jason har vore bassist for bandet Chicago sidan 1985. .
